| The Green Flag award is awarded by the Civic Trust. It was launched
in 1996. The Civic Trust has managed the scheme since 2000. It supports
efforts to achieve national targets for delivering cleaner, safer and
greener communities and improve the quality of the built environment.
It encourages all local authority areas to have at least one Green Flag
Award winner - access to
good quality green space.
The scheme highlights the good practice and achievements
of the many people involved in creating and caring for the great spaces
that contribute so much to the quality of life and social environmental
and economic well-being.
The scheme is judged against eight criteria:
A
welcoming place Healthy safe and secure Clean and well maintained Sustainability Conservation
and Heritage Community involvement Marketing Management
Ogden Water first won the award in 2003. It is
valid for one year and if a green space is to maintain its Green
Flag Award status it must re-apply annually
